Last week I trekked up to Washington, DC to testify before the Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties of the House Committee on the Judiciary. This was my eighth time testifying before a Congressional Committee. My message was simple. The Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center’s fight to end housing discrimination has been an increasingly uphill battle since hurricane Katrina. The reason: government entities are more frequently violating the federal Fair Housing Act and other civil right laws. In fact, in some circumstances, federal agencies are guilty of the very discrimination that they are charged with prosecuting.
I’ve linked my written and oral testimony below as well as an article about the hearing.

Mr. Perry,
I am the web intern for Grit TV here in NYC and thought you would be interested in this piece we did on fighting for public housing in New Orleans. If you would like to post it to your blog or just pass it on to whomever would be interested that would be great.
